We believe preparing for the future is an act of aroha. It begins with a conversation, a memory shared, a wish made known. He Rau Aroha makes room for these small, meaningful acts — honouring where we come from and helping those we love carry our stories forward. At the heart of it all are people, relationships and the generations still to come. He Rau Aroha is founded on a principle from te ao Māori — that our stories, our memories, and our connections to those we love are taonga. Treasures. Things worth protecting.
That belief doesn't belong to one culture. It belongs to all of us. Our approach begins with care for whānau, respect for whakapapa,(family tree) and responsibility to those who come after us.

He Aroha Tūāhono Trust
He Rau Aroha supports He Aroha Tūāhono Trust — an independent charitable trust dedicated to the wellbeing of whānau and communities throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.
The Trust operates independently and makes its own decisions about community support. It exists because we believe that care should extend beyond a platform — into the communities that need it most.

Where this began
He Rau Aroha was founded by Christopher Whaiapu in Palmerston North, Aotearoa New Zealand.
It began with a simple observation — that loss arrives before we are ready, and that the burden it places on families is heavier than it needs to be. Not just for Māori whānau. For everyone.
This platform is the answer to that. Built on Māori values, open to the world.
